Steve was a theoretical physicist with a post doctorate degree. He was also a bit of a comic, and he loved to post funny things on his Twitter account, @UnlikelyBuddha One day, Steve was browsing Twitter when he came across a post by a young mother. The post was about how her toddler had just learned the word "quantum," and he was now running around the house saying, "Quantum! Quantum!" Steve found this post hilarious, and he retweeted it with the comment, "In a parallel universe, my toddler is running around the house saying, 'Buddha! Buddha!'" His girlfriend, who was a PhD in animal behavior, saw his tweet and laughed. "That's funny," she said. "But in a parallel universe, your toddler might not even be a toddler. In recent years, there has been a decline in the quality of new physics students. This decline is due to a number of factors, including the COVID-19 pandemic, which limited classroom time and online training for high school students. As a result, many students entering college are not well-prepared for the rigors of physics courses. One way to address this problem is to require all freshmen to attend basic classes designed to fill in the gaps in their knowledge on math, science, and English writing. These classes could be offered during the summer or during the first semester of college. They would provide students with the foundation they need to succeed in more advanced physics courses . In addition to requiring basic classes, colleges could also offer more support to students who are struggling in physics. This support could include tutoring, supplemental instruction, and peer mentoring. Colleges could also work with high schools to ensure that students are well-prepared for physics...

In the 19th century, American whalers hunted primarily for sperm whales, which were abundant in the North Atlantic. By the early 20th century, sperm whale populations had declined significantly, and American whalers began to focus on other species, such as gray whales and humpback whales. Japanese whaling , on the other hand, was focused primarily on right whales. Right whales are slow-moving and docile, making them easy targets for whalers. In the early 20th century, Japanese whalers hunted right whales in the North Pacific, driving them to the brink of extinction. The International Whaling Commission (IWC) was established in 1946 to regulate whaling. In 1986, the IWC imposed a moratorium on commercial whaling.
