One Minute Buddhism: Reincarnation and Karma

Image
In the bustling world we inhabit, amidst the whirlwind of daily tasks and distractions, there lies a profound truth often overlooked – the concept of reincarnation and karma. This fundamental principle in Buddhism suggests that our present circumstances, our joys and sorrows, are reflections of our actions, both positive and negative, from our past lives. Imagine a karmic balance, a delicate scales weighing our deeds. Each act of kindness, each compassionate gesture, tips the scales towards a brighter future, a life filled with happiness and fulfillment. But fear not, for this karmic balance is not set in stone. We hold the power to alter our destiny, to reshape our future through our actions in the present moment. Every positive choice we make, every act of generosity and kindness, nudges the scales towards a more favorable outcome. This conc...

I have two Roasted Turkey Recipes using a Chinese Orange Sauce (like Duck)

Image
Both are easy and a change to the same old Thanksgiving Turkey. Recipe 1: Roasted Turkey with Orange Hoisin Glaze This recipe is for a roasted turkey with an orange hoisin glaze.   The glaze is made with: orange juice,  hoisin sauce,  ginger, garlic, and  soy sauce.  It is brushed on the turkey while it is roasting, which gives it a sweet and savory flavor. Ingredients : 1 whole turkey, thawed 1/2 cup orange juice 1/4 cup hoisin sauce 1 tablespoon grated ginger 1 tablespoon minced garlic 1 tablespoon soy sauce 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 teaspoon black pepper 1/4 cup vegetable oil Instructions : Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C). In a small bowl, whisk together orange juice, hoisin sauce, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, salt, and pepper. Place turkey in a roasting pan and brush with vegetable oil. Pour glaze over turkey and roast for 2 hours, basting every 30 minutes. Continue to roast until turkey is cooked through, about 1 hour longer. Let turkey rest for 20 mi...

Dawn's Deserted Symphony

Image
Beneath the hush of dawn's unfolding veil,  Where Phoenix's heart begins to quail,  I step into the desert's waking embrace,  Where rain-kissed plants their fragrance grace. The creosote, a verdant, pungent sprite,  With earthy musk dances in the light,  While sweet acacia, a honeyed delight,  Infuses the air with its golden bite. Hummingbird mint, with leaves so green,  Whispers secrets of a woodland scene,  And cacti, their spines like jewels aglow,  Release a scent both sharp and low. Palo verde, a beacon in the sand,  Its branches outstretched, a helping hand,  While mesquites, their aroma sweet and deep,  Embalm the air in a drowsy sleep. Night-blooming jasmine, a siren's call,  Unveils its perfume, soft and enthrall,  And rosemary, its essence evergreen,  Awakens the senses, sharp and keen. As I tread the path, a symphony unfolds,  A fragrant tapestry, a story told,  Where nature's orchestra plays...
