Social Engineering And What You Need To Know

Image
Social engineering is a type of cyber attack that relies on human interaction to trick individuals into giving up their personal information or taking actions that compromise their security. It is a very effective attack vector because it is often easier to exploit people than it is to find a network or software vulnerability. The negative effects of social engineering can be far-reaching, both for individuals and organizations. Here are some of the most common: • Identity theft: Social engineering attacks can be used to steal personal information, such as credit card numbers, social security numbers, and passwords. This information can then be used to commit identity theft, which can have a devastating impact on the victim's financial and personal well-being. • Financial fraud: Social engineering attacks can also be used to commit financial fraud, such as wire fraud or phishing attacks. In these attacks, the attacker tricks the victim into sending money or providing sensitive fin...

Wobbling Muons Could Reveal a Fifth Force of Nature

Image
A recent experiment at Fermilab has found that muons, subatomic particles, are wobbling far more than they should. This has led physicists to believe that there may be a fifth force of nature at work. The muon is a lepton , a type of elementary particle that is not affected by the strong nuclear force. It is about 200 times more massive than an electron, and it decays into an electron, a neutrino, and an anti-neutrino. In the Fermilab experiment, muons were sent flying around a superconducting magnetic ring at nearly the speed of light. The physicists measured the muons' wobbles, or precession, and found that they were much larger than expected. Theorists believe that this excess precession is caused by an unknown force that is acting on the muons. This force is thought to be much weaker than the four fundamental forces of nature: gravity, electromagnetism, the strong nuclear force, and the weak nuclear force. If the existence of a fifth force is confirmed, it would be a major...

To Venus, brightest planet in the sky

Image
To whom the ancients gave a goddess' name,  I sing, though not with the sweet lips of rhyme,  But with the stammering tongue of mortal clay. Thou shinest in the west, the harbinger of night,  And in the east, the herald of the morn;  Thou art the star of love, the star of light,  And in thy beauty all the planets scorn. Thou art the sister of the Earth, and yet  Thou art so different from our world below;  No life is there, no water, no sweet air,  But only clouds of sulphur and of woe. Yet still thou art a lovely planet, fair  With beauty that no mortal eye can see;  And still thy name is whispered in the air,  And still thy worship is a mystery. O Venus, goddess of the morning star,  O Venus, queen of love and beauty bright,  Inspire my soul with thy celestial fire,  And guide my footsteps to the realms of light. May I be worthy of thy heavenly grace,  And may I sing thy praise in every clime;  May ...
