James Patterson

James Patterson is the world's bestselling author, with books that have sold more than 425 million copies worldwide. He is known for his thrillers and suspense novels, as well as his work in the young adult and romance genres. Patterson has written over 200 books, including many popular series such as Alex Cross, the Women's Murder Club, and Maximum Ride.


Patterson was born in Newburgh, New York, in 1947. He studied English at Manhattan College and Vanderbilt University, and after graduating, he worked as a copywriter at an advertising agency. In 1988, he became the CEO of J. Walter Thompson, one of the largest advertising agencies in the world.


In 1976, Patterson published his first novel, The Thomas Berryman Number. The book was a critical and commercial success, and it won the Edgar Allan Poe Award for Best First Novel by an American Author. Patterson continued to write novels while working in advertising, and in 1996, he left his job to focus on writing full-time.


Patterson's breakthrough came in 1997 with the publication of Along Came a Spider, the first book in the Alex Cross series. Alex Cross is a homicide detective and forensic psychologist who works for the Washington, D.C., Metropolitan Police Department. The Alex Cross series has been adapted into several films, and it is one of the most popular thriller series of all time.


In addition to the Alex Cross series, Patterson has written several other popular series, including the Women's Murder Club, Michael Bennett, Maximum Ride, and Private. He has also written many stand-alone novels, as well as non-fiction and romance novels.


Patterson is a prolific writer, and he often publishes several books per year. He is also a successful businessman, and he has his own publishing company, James Patterson Books. Patterson is passionate about literacy, and he has donated millions of dollars to schools and libraries. He is also the founder of the James Patterson PageTurner Awards, which honors adult and young adult authors who write books that encourage kids to read.


Patterson is one of the most successful authors of all time, and he is known for his fast-paced, suspenseful novels. His books have entertained millions of readers around the world, and he continues to be one of the most popular authors writing today.

My wife was only 32 when she died of metastatic breast cancer

It was only 5 years after we found a lump in her breast.  She was a laboratory technologist in the hospital lab at the time and our medical insurance was good.  To give her the best chance, they gave her both chemotherapy and radiation to the area where the tumor had been found after surgery.  Our son was 1 1/2 years old at the time of the diagnosis and spent a lot of time at his grandmother's house during her treatments.  I went with her each time she received chemo and went through her nausea and vomiting with her after each course. In time they tattooed a tiny dot on her breast in order to guide the radiation to the right area and completed the radiation treatments.  She began recovering and within months had returned to her job at the lab. We both raised our son and went about our lives, hopeful.
